Annual Report

Columbia School of Public Health

I was the writer, editor, and content manager for Columbia University School of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology. I worked with department leadership to publicize faculty research on a head-spinning number of pressing issues, such as the Ebola epidemic, opioid addiction, global mental health programs, urban life and food environment, and HIV prevention among girls and women in Africa.

Annual Report

Annual Report

The Department of Epidemiology was eager to offer a fresh contribution to the field by conveying the real world relevance of this discipline with its yearly annual report. For the report, we focused on the research contributions of faculty and related media coverage. I was writer and managing and content editor and worked closely with a graphic designer and leadership to establish the clean look of the department.

Magazine

Magazine

The Department of Epidemiology wanted to not only publicize its research to a wide audience but to show how this field was making an impact. Our bimonthly newsletter, 2x2, turned into a quarterly magazine, with journalistic-style features on everything from the vaccine controversy to the public health problem created by a gambling economy. I wrote for and edited the content of the magazine and worked closely with a graphic designer and leadership to establish the clean look of this publication. This work expanded into the 2x2 project, a public health news website that I worked on with faculty, staff, and students in the department.

Marketing

Marketing

I wrote copy and managed email marketing of the Department of Epidemiology’s new Executive MS degree program for health professionals, as well as the department’s new summer institute. Both programs increased their numbers significantly each year.
