At two of the nation’s top universities, NYU Langone Health and Columbia University’s School of Public Health, I worked to communicate about timely public health stories. I have experience writing press releases, creating media kits, pitching reporters, and working to arrange interviews and analyze media performance.
Notably, I worked with NYU Langone’s institutional media relations team on the outreach around a new hospital pavilion in 2018, writing the press release, media advisories, and fact sheets. We achieved coverage in a diverse array of media: for the building’s new children’s hospital, technology, environmental design, and artwork. And I spent three years in my role with NYU Langone’s Department of Population Health working with academics to promote newsworthy research, leading to stories in most major U.S. outlets and many international ones, of high profile studies such as new opioid addiction treatment and community programs leading to increased screening for diabetes and cancer in at-risk minority groups.
